For our latest editorial dialogue, we enter the world of Congolese artist Israel Lombale — a practice rooted in identity, material memory, and African cultural preservation.

Working primarily with Raphia Kuba, Lombale approaches textile not simply as medium, but as cultural language. Through his work, he explores African ethno-sociology, unity, ancestry, and the importance of remaining connected to one’s roots.

This marks the beginning of an ongoing dialogue and documentation of his evolving practice.

Welcome to the Dope Neighborhood, @israellombale .
